Mountains community of Buck Hill Falls is a privately owned resort community
in Northeastern Pennsylvania. The village and resort began in 1901 as
a Quaker retreat by a group of Friends ( a religious order) from Philadelphia,
including Charles F. Jenkins who was the president of the Buck Hill Falls
Company until 1951. They established an exclusive stone lodge known as
The Inn at Buck Hill Falls, which was popular until the late 1980s at
which point it was owned and run by a local family without enough capitalization
to maintain the property . By this time the Inn had 400 guest rooms and
additional amenities, which included an indoor swimming pool with a retractable
glass roof, large ornate lobby and common garden spaces and a restaurant.

porch with panoramic views of the unsettled Pocono mountains. The Inn
closed in October 1990 but the community of Buck Hill Falls thrived as
a place for city dwellers to retreat from the heat of the city and for
exists, today, an active community of both summer and year-round residents,
some of whom still come for a summer retreat from New York City or Philadelphia.
The community of Buck Hill Falls is professionally managed and has amenities
